For this project, we are relocating the GMP laboratory (ISO7 clean rooms) and core laboratory from its existing location in MD Anderson's Luthern Pavilion to the Zayed Building. Our team will finish out approximately 13,500-SF of floor 2 of the Zayed Building and renovate 2,500-SF of lab space, which includes installing a dedicated laboratory exhaust system and renovating shared and private office space as well as a liquid nitrogen storage room.

On this construction project, our team:
Phased demolition and reconstruction of the Knipling-Bushland U.S. Livestock Insects Research Laboratory campus
Constructed a new 46,000-SF administration and laboratory building, an 8,000-SF fly and tick research building and 16,000-SF of ancillary space
Coordinated the installation of new public utility infrastructure to the campus and installed new private utilities on existing operational campus
Thoroughly communicated site logistics and utility shutdowns while working on an existing and active campus

Removed and installed a new roof while maintaining a water-tight system for the building finished below
Coordinated with MEP trades for installation of rooftop equipment, piping and power
Installed a new and safer means to access the roof through a permanent stair tower
Completed multiple interior finish renovations consisting of removal, access flooring repair and coating of concrete below
Coordinated interior server room work with owner vendors comprised of power, racks and a new dry suppression system

This project is for Army, Navy and Air Force research programs that address the health and safety effects of exposure to various stressors and lead to development of new technologies. The facility houses administrative space (research libraries, offices etc.), two data centers, warehouse space, high-density storage areas and secured space. There are indoor and outdoor specialized, directed energy research labs; anechoic chambers; imaging and radiation labs; biology, microbiology, biochemistry and bimolecular labs; tissue culture labs; a proteomic lab; and mechanical and electrical support services.
