Skanska has had the opportunity to partner with this client on numerous projects at both the Upper Providence (UPP) and Upper Merion (UPM) campuses over the last 9 years. Under our MSA, our team has completed, is in the process of completing, or is progressing with preconstruction services on nine (this number needs to be updated) construction projects at UPM. These include extensive lab, R&D, and campus maintenance and utility upgrade projects, our most recent being the UPM-04 Human Biological Sampling Bank project. We have managed multiple projects simultaneously and coordinated other contractors while on both the UPP and UPM campuses.

Spring House, PA | 180,000-SF
Skanska performed this expansion project, which included a 155,000-SF research center lab and 80,000-SF of renovated space in an existing research building. The research center featured perimeter offices for chemistry and biology functions with adjacent interior laboratory spaces designated for either discovery biology or discovery chemistry. The research space included a BSL-3 lab. The first floor is primarily used for mechanical and building/lab support functions, while the fifth floor, or the roof elevation, also includes an elevated, separately enclosed mechanical penthouse. The research center lab achieved LEED Gold certification.

Why this project matters
Horsham, PA | 230,000-SF
The project consists of renovations to two, three-story office buildings totaling approximately 198,000-SF, new construction of a two-story 30,000-SF Commons building, and enclosed pedestrian bridges that will connect the three buildings together. The Commons building will serve as the campus hub for amenities and will include a kitchen, dining room, conference center and fitness center. Partial demolition of an existing parking garage will be performed in order to build the new Commons building. The project also includes roof replacements on both of the existing buildings and other site upgrades for ADA requirements. Both the existing and new buildings will seek LEED certification.
